"On a late afternoon in October, Elijah Wood, 20, rises from his chair in a small Santa Monica, California, coffeehouse, grabs the waist of his pants and asks, "Have you seen it? I'll show you." The dark cafe is empty except for a couple sitting across the aisle, and they take no notice of the handsome young man about to expose something. Wood pulls down on his drawers and tugs up his T-shirt ..."

Heehee! That has to be the best opening of all the interviews around at that time!! (Frodo Lives ~ TV Guide)

Anyway, I digress!! theonering.net has posted another two videos by linuxelf which I've never seen before. They're both quite long - Elijah pops up at various points throughout each. The first one is cast interviews at the FOTR NY Premiere and at the end switches to the London prem. The second one is at the NZ prem - with a very bouncy, breathless Lij:)

Happy Froday!!

I don't really keep up with Dom's doings so I'm not sure how he's wearing his hair right now but for a long time it did seem that every time I happened to see a pic of him, his head was shaved, or extremely short. Not really a good look for him:)

Oh, Paulie, I enjoyed those so much! And I loved the excerpt you opened with. Yes, that would have been the most provocative opening to an interview ever!

I loved watching both videos, which moved me to tears of pleasure and appreciative love for the cast and crew and the films. In the first one, the one extolling New Zealand, I was so PROUD of all the LotR actors that spoke: how well they spoke, and how appreciatively they spoke of the project and the host country, New Zealand. I adored Sir Ian McKellen all over again, but each actor in turn was absolutely lovely.

But something Peter Jackson said at the end of the first video struck a chord, enough to make me try to transcribe what he said. I think it might sum up what it is I think he accomplished in his trilogy, and why I love them. He said to the NYC interviewer,

Peter Jackson: I wanted it to be [? couldn't make out the word] and I wanted it to be an adventure ... that sweeps you out of your cinema seat and takes you on a journey. I wanted it to sort of affect people like when I was twelve years-old, and I used to go to the movies, and I just used to be... I just used to lose myself in the film.

Glad you enjoyed the vids, Mechtild. I think PJ got exactly what he wanted a hundred fold!! Btw, I think the word you couldn't make out was 'escapism'. :)

I was also really impressed by the way they all expressed their love and appreciation for NZ and for the experience:)

Thanks for deciphering that word for me, Paulie. And again, thanks so much for posting these. If they were posted elsewhere I didn't see them, or failed to notice them. They were such a pleasure.

the thing that strikes me the most is how everyone looks so young. you think 10 years isn't a long time ago, but a lifetime can happen in 10 years.

that opening line has to be the best ever! thanks for posting these. :-)

that was weird. i clicked post once and it showed up twice *kicks lj*

Actually, it isn't even 10 years - those prems were in Dec 2002 so it's less than 71/2 years and yet even in such a short time you can see the changes in people. Which is why I'm avoiding mirrors these days:D

Thanks very much from me too, I also had tears in my eyes while watching, but they were tears of joy...

Such memories, such happy times, and I got to visit NZ and stand on Courtney Place too, wonderful!

I love how all the actors fell under the spell of beautiful NZ... Me too! :-)

Thanks Jane - glad you enjoyed the vids. Yes, they all really loved NZ and who can blame them - it's such a beautiful country I don't think anyone could fail to fall under that spell:)

No, I think everyone who has ever visited that beautiful country will be forever changed and part of them will remain there always. It certainly happened to me :-)
