This is what my husband is giving me for Christmas!!

Only ... he doesn't actually know yet. Perhaps I should tell him, seeing as I've just pre-ordered it from Amazon :D Can't understand why its called The Complete LOTR Soundtrack when its only FOTR.
(Pic pinched from C4 at KD)

To quote a certain Mr Wood - I am sick!! And I can't get out to find me some GSE:(

Get well soon, dear.

Yes, I'm really looking forward to it - the entire score of FOTR instead of just certain bits. I believe TTT & ROTK will be coming out later:)

Oh, that looks nice! What a generous (and currently blissfully unaware) husband you have.

Keep warm and get well.

That is exactly right!! I think most men are the same, so relieved if they haven't got to worry about what to get - and its even better when you get it yourself :)

Duh??? It's called "The Complete LOTR Soundtrack" and it's only FOTR? That doesn't make any sense. I have the soundtracks from each film on separate CDs and another CD with Shore's LOTR Symphony.

I guess I don't understand what the package you've pictured is. Are they planning to issue a "deluxe" version of the soundtracks for the other two films?

Having looked closer, it does actually say FOTR underneath LOTR. It is the entire score of FOTR rather than just parts of it and the other two will come out at a later date, not sure when. They announced this on TORN quite a long time ago and its finally coming out on Nov 28th. Can't wait - but I will have to, at least until Christmas!!

OK, now I understand. It's literally the entire score....not just selected tracks. Very nice! I'd like to have that myself. Is it available at amazon.com?

Have you seen "A History of Violence" that Howard Shore scored? There are so many places in that film that sound like LOTR it gave me goosebumps. 8-O Kind of strange because other scores he's written don't remind me of LOTR. Maybe it was a tip of the hat to Viggo, since he's the star of HOV. *wink, wink* :>D

Yes, it is available at amazon.com but its being released later than here on the 13 Dec. This is the link:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000BNI90O/qid=1131977152/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_bn1_xgl15/104-8617148-5437528?v=glance&s=music&n=507846

No, I haven't seen HOV yet. I was very shocked when I heard the news about Howard being dumped from King Kong with only two months to go - you probably read about it on TORN. I do hope they haven't fallen out over it. I think his LOTR music is complete perfection.

Yes, I've read quite a bit about it and I would love to know what happened between PJ and Howard over the "King Kong" score. If things weren't going well, why on earth did they wait until the eleventh hour to do something about it....and let so much of the score be recorded. And I hope, as they say, their friendship has remained intact. Everyone involved in the LOTR films has become such good friends with each other. I don't want to see any dust-ups among them.

You know, the same thing happened with the score to the film "Troy." In that case, the entire score was finished and 90% recorded. It sure makes it hard on a replacement composer to crank out an entire score and get it recorded in such a short time. I like the "Troy" score, but I'd love to know what the original one sounded like. I wonder if we'll ever get to hear the score Shore wrote for "King Kong."

P.S. Thanks for the link to amazon.com. I just pre-ordered it, too. I also ordered Howard Shore's soundtrack for "A History of Violence."

Wow, that's gorgeous! (Does it say "The Fellowship of the Ring" under "The Lord of the Rings"? I can't quite tell. Maybe that explains why it's only FOTR.)

Hee hee, your husband doesn't yet know how very sweet and generous he is!

Yes, on closer inspection it does say FOTR underneath LOTR. Not sure how long we'll have to wait for the other two. My hubby is sweet & generous - but he will also be very releived that he hasn't got to worry about what to get me!!

It looks a lovely gift...

What exactly is it? The complete soundtrack recording for FOTR? I see it does say in smaller print "The Fellowship of the Ring" underneath LOTR.
I'd not seen this before.

Beautifully packaged as is LOTR merchandise in general.

Guess you'd better tell your husband he's buying it for you, then... ;)

Yes, it is the complete soundtrack recording of FOTR and on closer inspection it does say FOTR underneath LOTR. The packaging does look beautiful - I'm looking forward to that booklet. I will be informing Roger very soon - he'll just be happy he hasn't got to search for anything!!

How do you feel sick - a cold, flu, or what...?

We found some GSE at our little local herbalist shop, Jackson's, that's been here since the year dot!

Hope you manage to track some down.

When he first mentioned GSE I thought *Green Street Elite*...? lol

Its a flu-type thing - not too terrible, bad enough to keep me off work since Wednesday, but not so bad that I can't enjoy sitting at my computer!! I must find some GSE ready for next time. *Green Street Elite* - I wonder if that occurred to Elijah:D

I'm really looking forward to the pressy - its the complete soundtrack of FOTR instead of just parts of it. The other two will be released later, not sure when though.

Love the icon, btw:)
