"This film is only showing in Scotland & London"

I BEG YOUR PARDON???!!!

Oh - I get it. We in the Midlands are considered too thick to be able to appreciate a film of this type. Well thanks for nothing. I had it all nicely planned. Tomorrow I break up for a week's holiday and had intended a lovely start to it by finally getting to see Elijah's new film that I have waited so long for. It never occurred to me for one moment that it wouldn't be showing ANYWHERE in Birmingham, or even the West Midlands. This is the second biggest city in the UK with several large cinema complexes - I cannot believe it!! On further investigation, it seems that it will be showing in Oxford which is a lot closer than London - but still a long journey compared to around 5 miles if it had been showing locally. The trouble is, we only have until Thursday and severe weather conditions have been forecast. There is every possibility I will never get to see this on the big screen. Now I know how my poor friend Allie feels. She lives in Prague - WHERE THE FILM WAS MADE - and yet it is not being shown anywhere in the country. How is that for insanity?

On a happier note - got my 'Ringers' dvd yesterday. Very enjoyable - and even saw a couple of my LJ friends on there!! This time last year the ROTK EE still hadn't come out. *sigh*

Finally, before I close I'd like to wish all those who celebrate it ...

A VERY HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

And lots of thanksgiving to annwyn55 for my newly-acquired LJ skills:)

Thanks for that info - but Sheffield is further away than Oxford so it looks as though thats where we'll have to go. I have heard today that it may be shown later in different areas but I daren't risk waiting - so its "Oxford - here we come"!! If we can get there.

You'll find local venues here.

I'll be seeing it this weekend at Bristol.

Good luck!

Many thanks for that info. It still looks as though Oxford is the closest for us although I have heard today that it may be a 'rolling release' as it was in the US and appearing in other areas on future dates. Still, don't really want to risk waiting if we can avoid it - so we're hoping to get to Oxford on Wednesday. Hope you enjoy your weekend viewing:)

Thank you. I hope you enjoy on Wednesday also. And I hope the majority of our friends have the opportunity of seeing what looks to be a wonderful film.

How sweet of you to share in the holiday wishes - thank you!

Oh, I do hope you get to see Illuminated! It is such a beautiful and moving film. I truly loved it.

Hope you're enjoying the holiday:) And I feel fairly confident about seeing the film now - even if we don't get to Oxford it seems there's a likelihood of it being shown in other areas later on.

I have no words to describe how incredibly pissed off I am at the distribution of this. London, south England and Scotland WTF???

Live near Manchester but nothing. Family lives near Liverpool but nothing. My nearest viewing is an hours train ride away in Sheffield. That is one damn expensive cinema ticket!

I know, I was just gobsmacked when I realised it wasn't showing anywhere here. I read your comment somewhere else about it probably being shown elsewhere on later dates which is a bit more promising, but nevertheless I want to try & see it now just in case. So its Oxford on Wednesday for us - weather permitting!!

Oh no!!!! I'm so sorry about EII. I hope you get to see it on the big screen. Perhaps that notice is wrong. I can't believe that it is not even showing in Prague. What's up with that?

I know, its just unbelievable that they wouldn't show a film in the country where it was made. Allie has been writing to everyone she possibly can about it, but so far, no luck.

Oh, I'm so sorry.....bummer! I can sympathize because where I live, in northern New England, we are frequently treated like second-class citizens, too. EII hasn't been/won't likely be shown anywhere within a couple hundred miles of me. I did so much want to see those huge blue eyes on the big screen, but I guess it's only the DVD for me. *sigh*

I received Ringers: Lord of the Fans yesterday, too, and watched it last night. Absolutely loved it. I thought I was obsessed, but when that fan said she'd sold her house so she could afford to go to the world premiere of ROTK in Wellington, I realized I have a long way to go.

Thanks for your Thanksgiving wishes. I had a wonderful day.

I'm sorry to hear you won't be able to see EII on the big screen. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we'll be able to get to Oxford on Wednesday. But thank God for dvds - just imagine if there was no such thing!!

Yes, I think even I would think twice about selling my home to get to NZ. Although we will probably still be paying for our trip in 10 years time!!

I hope you have a wonderful time in Oxford attending EII. Please blow some kisses at the screen for me.....only when Elijah is there, of course. ;>D

Well, I might be willing to take 10 years to pay off a trip to NZ, but I don't think I'd sell my house either.

Oh dear - someone else who's not going to get to see it on the big screen. Its such a shame. At least I do have a chance as long as the weather doesn't beat me.

Don't give up on seeing EII. They may roll it out to other cities. In the chat with Liev a couple of weeks ago, he insisted that it WILL be showing in Prague, but he didn't know the date. So I hope he's right about that. At least he knows that Allie was concerned about it, so he might make sure it gets there. *hopes*

I hadn't thought about it, but you're right about the ROTK EE DVD. Was it only a year ago? We really need another LOTR movie!

Oh, I do hope it will be shown in Prague some time, I feel so sorry for Allie over this. At least I have a chance - as long as the weather doesn't defeat us we'll probably see it in Oxford on Wednesday. Failing that, it does seem there's a chance its going to be shown in other places later on.

And yes - another LOTR movie would be most welcome - as long as Frodo is in it, of course:)

I just noticed the icon you're using with the above post. Where....puleeeez....can I find the full size version of that photo? It is absolutely gorgeous and I've never seen that particular Frodo photo before. I'll love you forever if you can tell me where to find it.

Its perfection isn't it? I used to have this as my screensaver up to my last computer crash. I think I'll have to reload it:) Here you go - let me know if you have trouble downloading it and I'll post a smaller version:

When I came back to your LJ to see the photo you added for me, I literally gasped. He is so gorgeous here it just took my breath away. Simply the most exquisite face I've ever seen on a man....and Catherine Deneuve's is the the most beautiful woman's face I've ever seen. IMHO

Thank you ever and every so much, Not Alone. :>*

Oh, my dearest friend! Isn´t it worse to live IN country where EII is going to have a premiere but so far? Maybe it is harder than my case. X-mas is close, we´re not carefree young girls-a lot of obligations we have to do for holiday, I understand you well! Damn! I hate these film society, they do not work for people!
Prim, yes Liev told it during chat, but there is no date, not news, no hope still. I´ve contacted Czech production film comp. (Etic film) even due to let him know about my worries, I sent him e-mail about it, so I hope, it helps.
Paulie, I know, there si always hope, and I wish your dream about watching EII on big screen comes true! In the opposite case it will be ubearable cruel.
I cross my fingers!!!!
Love, A

Hi Allie - I'm really hoping we'll be able to see it in Oxford on Wednesday. I'm on holiday and, as long as the weather is ok, Roger is going to take a day's holiday. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed. But I do hope it will eventually come to Prague - it just seems ridiculous for it not to. By the way, I hope you got my last email, I had to send it from my AOL mail as Yahoo is playing up.

I know what you mean - we're fortunate that it's being shown at a smaller cinema in Sheffield, though not the multi-screen UGC/Cineworld... Chris rang the box office and booked tickets for Sunday afternoon as we're hoping to see Johnny Depp in "The Libertine" tomorrow, Saturday, with a friend while she's here visiting. Even that's quite limited in its screening times. Surely JD and Elijah Wood are big names now...? Just because the films aren't huge blockbusters doesn't meant they won't be popular! Crazy...:/

Glad you like the Ringers DVD - so did we, especially the Red Carpet Tours mention and the fact that we saw some from our tour on the DVD!

I saw that it was being shown in Sheffield & thought that would probably be handy for you and Chris. I know I don't need to say "enjoy it" - you will:) I'm hoping we'll be able to see it in Oxford on Wednesday as long as the weather isn't too bad. I've heard today that it is probably going to be a rolling release as it was in the US - coming out in different areas on later dates. Seems a bit odd, but at least if we can't make it to Oxford there is still hope!!

Ringers is great and it does help a little to ease the emptiness of having no new LOTR films or dvds. I enjoyed seeing the bits from the RC tour too:)

Yes, we are fortunate that EII is being shown in Sheffield - wonder why there...? Hope you get to see it in Oxford or somewhere else soon! I don't understand why the rolling release, unless they're waiting to see if it'll make money or not.

Love that Ringers DVD - watched it again last night. Great to see RC represented on there :) I know what you mean about no new LOTR films, though. King Kong and Narnia are better than nothing, but I do miss the excitement associated with a new LOTR movie coming out just before Christmas... :/
