This has given me my first real laugh since the Elf news - with thanks to bagsy:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290000939036

My first thought was to go foraging through our garden to see what I could pass off as Elijah's - but I suppose the UK postmark would be a bit of a giveaway. Something for you folk in the US to consider though;)

Something else which has really lifted my spirits. Remember this?

http://www.theonering.net/perl/newsview/8/1087516804

Well, as has been reported in several places already, we'll be getting all three in August. I know some people are peeved at having to fork out for yet another edition of the films if they want to see the documentaries - but quite frankly nothing on this earth would stop me from getting my hands on new behind-the-scenes stuff - even if it was just 5 minutes. And this is - well, I'm sure I saw 300 minutes mentioned somewhere. *quivers in anticipation* Details here:

Oh, for heaven's sake, Shirebound. If I were EW, I would be more careful the next time I'm getting a haircut or getting a medical exam. Who knows what might show up for sale in a little baggie or plastic jar?

Hey, I could kind of go for a souvenir leaf. I'd rather have a leaf if I thought leaves mattered to him that a napkin he'd signed.

If the leaf were from Tolkien's yard while he lived, I think I'd bid for it. A leaf from a tree that was photosynthesizing while JRRT still was on the premises, strolling around his little bit of earth, breathing the same air ... coming from one of his favourite living things -- a tree -- a leaf might be a memento of him that I might want. A leaf pulled off a bush from EW's yard (who may not even go in it except to get in his car or empty the trash), naaah. If he were a gardener, I might be tempted.

OK, just out of curiousity, because I'm like that, I went to look at that person's transaction record at EBay. She (I'm presuming) has interesting taste; 3D postcards, vintage costume jewellry and "baby-doll" style dresses. All that and an odd fondness for butchers boys as evinced by the vintage 1930's photo of an actual "butcher's boy", and a DVD of the film by that name! (I read the book, very odd.) Sounds like a genuine eccentric! :-D

Have you taken a gander at that leaf lately? "adevejian" and "space_hooker_extraordinairre" are in a red hot bidding war, and have bid the pitiful dried up thing to $152.50 with 5 days yet to go! Still time to get your bid in, Not_Alone! ;-)

I see someone got the chewing gum and bidding has now ended!! But it says the leaves have been removed - not sure if it's ended or been removed for some other reason. But $152.50 - that's amazing!!

Hey, I wonder if I could sell that half-eaten piece of pizza Elijah had discarded and that I retrieved from his plate at ORC? : D Kidding!

When I went to the Jay Leno show last time he was on, he had a cold. During a commercial, he asked for a Kleenex and blew his nose. I was kidding with my friends that we should go retrieve it so we could get his DNA. Hehe. It never occurred to me that I could have come into unknown riches by selling it on eBay. LOL! You know, I just realized Frodoholic is one of the people who was at the Leno show with me on that date. Maybe she has that Kleenex....

Ah well...back to the drawing board!

Oh. well, I'm flabbergasted. I can't imagine anyone actually forking over money for a couple of leaves that someone claims they got from a celebrity's yard. I may have to get those disks too, or hint that I'd like them for Christmas or something.

Not Alone, the leaves-for-sale was a scream. I hope enterpreneurs don't go and denude every tree and shrub in order to sell it all on E-bay.

The new DVD sounds extremely exciting. Thanks for the link to the Costa Bote article, too. I already embarrassed myself in The Faculty asking, "What's 'Costa Bote'?"

It's hilarious, isn't it? But I notice there aren't any bids yet so hopefully people aren't as gullible as this person is hoping!!

Yes, I saw your "What's Costa Botes?" post - I have to confess to a bit of a giggle:D Can't wait for these documentaries:)

Just doing my job on the 'Costa Botes' - being clueless in the midst of canny fans is one of my vital contributions. Someone has to be clueless in public, to ask the questions other clueless people have on their minds, but are just informed enough to know they would look clueless to ask. :)

Actually, that is very true. There have been so many times in my life when I haven't asked a question through fear of looking silly, and then discovered much later that I wasn't the only one who didn't know:)

I couldn't believe this either... It's true, they'll sell anything on eBay! A piece of chewed gum, chewed allegedly by Elijah 0_0

Guess I'll probably get those DVDs just for the documentaries ;)

"they'll sell anything on eBay"

I think it's more of a case that they'll try to sell anything on eBay - I don't see any bids yet!!

As soon as I saw the info about the dvds it was just "Where do I pay?" No hesitation. Can't wait. And ... our tickets came this morning!!!

Yes, our stuff from LFCC/Showmasters came today too so I'm happier, especially as I also collected my new specs! Yay!

The really sad part is that I probably would bid for the laugh factor. Hahahaha.

"Thanks for cheering me just a bit hon! And these leaves will go nicely on my new green walls! <3 I'll be certain to hang it on the wall next to my Elijah photos! Woot!"

xD XD xD XD

And yaye for the dvd's....I need MORE! :D
