Hope to have Chapter Two of 'Journey' ready soon - have been spending a lot of time over at ElijahCon reading all the amazing entries there. Have also had my online time seriously curtailed at work by a room change - am now in an office with several others, and my pc screen is horribly exposed, unlike my previous room where I worked alone and spent most of the time doing my own stuff on the computer.

I have a question I'm hoping some of my LJ friends will be able to help me with - I've decided I want to try Photoshop but as a complete beginner I have no idea which version to buy - and what is Photoshop Elements? Any advice will be appreciated:)

Oh ~ and I've been tagged by yeuxdebleu with this:

Once tagged by this entry, the assignment is to write a blog entry of some kind with six random facts about yourself. Then, pick six of your friends and tag them; no tag backs. This explanation should be included.

I'll put the six thingies behind the cut

1) I've had 4 hip replacement operations. No, I don't have 4 hips - each one had to be redone:)

2) I once spent an entire night in a phone-box in Germany
with a (girl)friend and an Egyptian waiter from our hotel:)

3) I once attended a birthday party held for Bo Diddley's sister here in the UK. Other guests included Mick Jagger, the late Brian Jones, Keith Richard, Phil Everly of the Everly Bros., Little Richard - and of course Bo Diddley and his sister:)

4) I used to go horseriding and fell off 7 times before I decided I wasn't cut out for it:)

5) I hate the fact that I was born on Christmas Day:(

6) My husband & I got engaged on St. Valentines Day, less than 3 months after we met:)

I won't tag anyone specifically - just anyone who hasn't already done it!!

Yikes! 4 hip replacements? Did they finally get it right?
You were born on Christmas day too? So was my husband. He also HATES it.

Thats cool about the BD party and lmao about the phone-box.

They'll never be perfect, due to hip troubles in childhood, but they did improve things. I remember you saying your husband was also born on Christmas Day - you feel you've been cheated out of a birthday as everyone is so focussed on Christmas!

I've been only using Photoshop for a couple of months now and I have Photoshop CS2. It is difficult to learn, at least I thought it was. I also have Paint Shop Pro, which I find is much easier than Photoshop and can do a lot of same things you want to do, as well as Photo-Brush.

Wow about the hip replacemnts >_<.

Thanks for the info - perhaps I should try Paint Shop Pro first:)

Wow, your list is full of awesome things. Four hip replacements! Celebrities! And that phone box experience is certainly intriguing...

I guess that's one of the few benefits of being ancient - you have many & varied experiences to look back on - good & bad:D

Photoshop CS2 is kind of hard to handle- and you wouldn't want to buy it legally; it costs about $600!!
Elements 4, on the other hand is very reasonabley priced and much easier to use.

Wow, your six random facts list is both awesome and awful!

I have Photoshop Elements II. It was one of the earlier simpler...ha! editions and is no longer available. But I bought it last May through the amazon.com marketplace (other vendors who sell their wares through amazon.)

chocolatebuny -- who's an absolute whiz with Photoshop -- and I talked on the phone one evening while we were both in Photoshop (she has Photoshop Pro 7, I think) and it seemed to be almost identical. PS Pro has more features, but I'll never, ever get good enough to need them.

I would certainly recommend that you start with a very basic edition.

Thanks for doing the meme. You had some really interesting things on your list.

Bummer about work and the computer. I work only one day a week, but I'm alone for five hours in the afternoon....nice!

Wow 4 hip replacement operations would hurt!

I get the feeling there's an interesting story behind the phone booth in Germany ;) And the party for Bo Diddley's sister :)

How long have you and your husband been married now?

You're right - sometimes I think I should write a book!!

We've been married for 36 years!!!

You must have wanted those new hips pretty badly. My mom had one hip done and was not happy with the results. Rather than get it redone or get the other one done (just as bad if not worse), she's heading for a wheelchair. But she's had loads of surgeries and is 83.

I don't have Photoshop, but I hear it's great. People above seem to have made a lot of great recommendations.

What's Elijah Con? I thought it was a convention (like ComicCon, etc.), but you make it sound like a website, instead.

The hip replacements were the result of problems in childhood - I was only 31 when I had the first one!! I'm sorry to hear your mom was disappointed with the result of hers.

I'm surprised you don't have PS - I thought perhaps that's what you used to get those screencaps so perfect!!

elijah_con_2006 is an online convention here on LJ - the brilliant idea of Primula Baggins. If you friend the LJ you'll be able to see what's been going on:)

It's interesting to hear about some of your RL facts (and I'm going to post an entry like this very soon, since I've been tagged, too, LOL!).

Four operations for hip replacements are really too many!! You had to endure such a torture! And one of my closest (girl)friends has born on Christmas Day, too! She hates it too, and I don't blame you both for sure!

Hugs

I'm looking forward to seeing your 6 RL facts!!

Yes, 4 hip ops is a bit much - but I know many others have to endure a lot worse.

I always think people born round Christmas should have an 'official' birthday in the middle of the year so they don't miss out!! :)
