Subject:PJ's BIO
Time:05:42 pm
Current Mood:In Awe
PJ's bio arrived yesterday. I considered whether to exercise amazing self-restraint by reading from Page 1 to the end. Two seconds later I was skimming through the index for the W's :D

I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but I just had to mention this one quote which I will put behind a cut. How very typical of Elijah that we've never heard any mention of this from his lips:)

When we got to the point where Elijah was having his final dramatic moment with the Ring, the whole crew was mesmerised. At the end of the take the crew gave him a huge round of applause, something that doesn't happen very often. It is a reminder that, as a film-maker, you rely totally on the power of the actors ..."

I love that. Co-incidentally, a couple of days earlier I'd been making some screencaps of that very scene and, just like that crew, I was mesmerised all over again:)

Btw, I may have next chapter of 'Journey' up tonight. Or, if that's a bit optimistic, tomorrow. Or if not, the weekend.

Ooooh, thank you for quoting that! I didn't know PJ *had* a bio. Is there much LOTR cast/casting stuff in it?

Thank you for this! Ah yes, that dramatic Ring moment still mesmerises me every time. I guess PJ's bio is more worth reading than Sean's Astin's honest but whiney "There and back again"? ;)

Have only skimmed through it so far but think I can safely say there is no 'whining' in this:D

I love that there is nearly always something LOTR-related to look forward to - even if its a bit of a strain on the finances!! Must start saving for TTT The Complete Recordings:)

Oh my goodness. *melts into a puddle*

It hasn't come to my local bookstore. :( How much LotR is there in the book? If you assure me there's enough (and I'd trust you to know), I'll buy it from Amazon sight unseen.

As I said to Shirebound, I haven't really started reading it properly yet, just skimmed, but from what I can tell I'd say less than half the book is devoted to LOTR. However, the parts I have read have been very interesting with a lot of refs to the cast:)

"A huge round of applause from the crew" - can't think of many actors who would keep that quiet:)

I love that quote from PJ. It gives me shivers, just thinking at that moment. I'm glad that the special qualities of Elijah are acknowledged by everyone.

Sometimes, being a huge fan, I think that I can get a distorted idea of reality. But it seems that every people who had the chance to meet him or work with him consider him a wonderful, special person. I'm so happy for that.

Thanks for sharing, sweetie. And I hope the next chapter of Journey will be posted soon!!

*hugs*

It's a great quote, isn't it? And yet he's never said a word about that on any of the dvd commentaries etc. So typical of his modesty.

Have just posted next chapter of 'Journey' - hope you enjoy it:)

Great quote, Not Alone. Wow. Who is the author? Or is it an auto-bio "as told to" another author?

It's so typical of his modesty that he's never mentioned this, isn't it?

The book is by Brian Sibley who was also the author of some of the movie tie-in books that came out with each of the films. It is PJ's official biography - as told to BS:)

It doesn't seem to have been all that widely advertised - quite a few LOTR fans say they've heard nothing about it!! Hope you enjoy it:)

I had pre-ordered it from amazon.com. Just got an email today that it has shipped. I guess that will keep me off line for a while....about the only thing that could.

Love the quote you posted.

Yes - I'm wondering just how I'm going to fit reading this book into everything else!! But I will:) It is a great quote, isn't it? Nice to hear about him getting some well-deserved appreciation:)

Oh, Pauline - doesn't that quote from PJ's own lips make you proud of Our Boy? Thanks so much for spoiling us!

I had read an article about Brian Sibley's PJ book, but I wasn't sure when it was being published. That's one more thing - along with the TT Complete Score - to add to my Christmas list! (Hopes!)

Time to make dinner, and then I'm off on 'A Journey With Frodo!' I can't wait - bother the indigestion!

I'll write soon.
Lots of love, Blossom. xxx

It's great to hear about him being applauded like that, isn't it - and so typical of him that he never mentioned it on the dvd commentary or anywhere else. I can think of certain others who wouldn't have stayed silent;) The book was released on 6 Nov - and I'm amazed to hear from Mechtild that at present there is no plan to release it in the US!! Isn't that strange?

I'm also having the TTT score for Christmas - it's nice to always have something to look forward to:)

That must have been a wonderful experience - to see/hear PJ live!! Not many of us have been able to do that:) He does come across as a very humble and honest person - glad to hear he got a standing ovation:)
