A rambling mish-mash of a post - I keep getting so lost in research for my 'Journey' project that I forget to post things I'd intended to!!

First off - a very happy birthday to notabluemaia - hope you have a great day:) And my apologies to elfellon111 whose birthday I missed - hope it was a good one:)

Have been overwhelmed by all the Elijah goodies lately - and I'm so grateful to those who make all his tv appearances available online to those of us who don't get them. I was very pleased to hear Elijah mention the International Fund for Animal Welfare on one of these programmes - I've supported this charity for years, they do such good work endeavouring to stop the terrible cruelty that animals are subjected to all around the world.

I loved what George Miller said about Elijah - I'm sure everyone's seen it but it's worth repeating:
Elijah… I have to say something complimentary to him. You get everything on take one. It’s amazing. You’re so precise because I know your voice better than you do. On cutting I had to go through every take. Somehow, you got to the truth of it in a moment, which I found really amazing. I know you’ve been acting for a long time but that skill… There are very few actors I know who can manage to do that.

*waves this in faces of certain critics*

Whilst reeling from the 'Hobbit' fiasco, I had a horrible thought. How is all this going to impact on PJ's promise of many goodies when the films are released on HD? The audition tapes, that blooper reel ... That letter from PJ sounded so final - as if he was closing the door on Middle Earth for ever. Would New Line still bring out this big bumper edition, would they be able to without PJ's co-operation? I'd been hoping there was bluffing taking place on both sides, but now that NL have named a director they've approached, it's worrying. But how could they hope for this to succeed with almost the whole existing fan base against them?? I'd never really given much thought to 'The Hobbit' - it would be nice to visit Middle Earth again, but there would be no Frodo. But when I heard about the proposed second film linking it to LOTR my interest increased 100%. Could it be possible that we'd get to see Frodo again? And for me there is only one Frodo. Would he be asked to do it? Would he agree? (Personally I think he'd jump at it - he recently said if he could spend the rest of his life making films in NZ he'd be very happy). But then the bombshell - I couldn't believe it - to have my hopes raised and dashed in such a short space of time!! My gut feeling is that there is still hope - but I'm worried this may just be wishful thinking:(

A reminder to fellow UK'ers just in case they haven't heard - Elijah is to appear on Jonathan Ross's show on 1 December!!

Back to 'Journey' - hope to have Ch. 4, 'Becoming Frodo', posted very soon:)

ETA: ourdramaqueen informs me that the approach to another director is only a rumour. Another shred of hope!!

And in my haste I forgot one of the most important things - to all who celebrate it A VERY HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

New Line hasn't named a director they've approached - that was a rumour, albeit it seems coming from someone TORN considers to be in the know. So I don't believe all hope is lost yet, and that a lot of it is bluffing!

Looking forward to your next 'Journey' post! :D

So it was a rumour!! I'm glad to hear that - another shred of hope!! What a roller-coaster this is turning into:)

Thanks for that George Miller quote on Elijah's ability to get a take in one go. I hadn't read it before and that me very proud of him. As for PJ closing the door on Middle-earth and any future DVDs of blooper reels etc, I hope not but I suspect we will have to wait and see much as we are having to do about The Hobbit. I have to say I too was excited at the prospect of more Frodo but I don't think Elijah would revisit that role for anyone but PJ.

I agree with you - I couldn't imagine Elijah working on this with anyone but PJ - he's far too loyal to him:)

I love that quote from George Miller - so many people who have only good things to say about Elijah, proves what a very special person he is and how professional and talented an actor :)

If anyone else other than PJ were to make The Hobbit and this other "prequel" movie, I don't think I'd be that interested. I'd feel disloyal going to see them anyway. PJ should be the one to direct these movies.

Good to see you on LJ again. Hope you are well?

I wouldn't want to see it either if anyone else did it - unless Elijah did appear in the second film and I know that wouldn't happen. I still can't really believe that anyone else but PJ will make these films.

I'm fine thanks, hope you and Chris are too:)

Of course, if Elijah were to be in a second film I would go and see it too, but if PJ weren't involved I can't see Lij being either.

Was it Ian McKellen I saw commenting recently about this very thing and saying how sad it would be for these films to be made without PJ...? There would be such an outcry and probably much less box-office support for any new LOTR-related movies without PJ that they could potentially be flops which I can't see going down too well with those hoping to make profit from them.

Glad to hear that you are fine! Yes, thanks, we are too, just busy with Christmas approaching, especially at school... :/ Be glad when it's here!

It's been wonderful to see Elijah on television and to have lots of new pictures of him circulating. I was so pleased to read that statement by George Miller. The people who work with Elijah always praise him to the skies. He's truly appreciated by them, even if too many of the critics don't see him for the talent he is.

It's very disappointing to think they'd give The Hobbit to someone else to direct. I can't see myself going to see it if they do. It just won't be the Middle Earth we've all come to love.

We're really having a Lij fest right now, aren't we!! And you're right, he is praised so highly by everyone who's worked with him.

I will be amazed if anyone else tries to make The Hobbit - and no, I wouldn't want to see it either.

I'm glad to hear from you again, sweetheart!!

I can imagine you really busy with your researches for Journey (for which I'm glad!).

Have you seen how many Elijah related posts there are? So many pics, interviews, TV appearances and so on.

The only bad news is about PJ and The Hobbit. I really can't imagine another director for the movie and there's only one Frodo. In my opinion, it's better not make the movie at all if they can't find an agreement with PJ.

*hugses*

We are having a feast of Elijah goodies, aren't we? And there's a possibility he may even be here in the UK right now if he does attend the Happy Feet prem!!

I agree with you - The Hobbit can only be made by PJ - anything else would be a travesty:(

*many hugs*

I am still hopeful about the Hobbit with PJ. I think all sides are making their moves, but hopefully in the end PJ and Fran will be involved with the production.

And, thanks! I had a very nice Thanksgiving complete with a game of LOTR Trivial Pursuit. :-)

It is a great quote, isn't it? It seems that everyone who works with Elijah can't praise him highly enough!!

I agree with you - I will be eternally grateful that we'll always have our beautiful Frodo. But I'm also rather greedy and wouldn't say no to even more of him via future behind the scenes features and perhaps even in this proposed film linking The Hobbit to LOTR :)

I really doubt that PJ will have nothing to do with New Line over new material being released from the original LOTR movies. The reason New Line says they're moving on is because their contract allowing them to film "The Hobbit" expires in a year or so.

I heard a rumor that when this happens, and it reverts back to the Saul Zaentz company, PJ might work with them directly, bypassing New Line entirely.

New Line has named a director, however, that they've approached... Sam Raimi, director of "Spiderman."

I seriously hope they don't go that path. *shudder*

I agree - it would be insanity for anyone other than PJ to attempt to make this film:)

I too am looking forward to Jonathan Ross on Friday! :-)

I have to agree -- the prospect of Middle Earth without PJ is singularly unappetising. Surely something can be worked out? *crosses fingers*

Incidentally thanks again for "Journey with Frodo" -- have just left a comment on the third instalment. A very worthwhile & wonderful job you're doing there!

I'm looking forward to Jonathan Ross but with a few nerves - I've heard this show can be a bit outrageous!! I watch JR on the film programme he does but don't think I've ever seen this one.

'The Hobbit' thing is really turning into a roller-coaster - I'm glad to see Elijah speaking out in support of PJ:)
