A rambling mish-mash of a post - I keep getting so lost in research for my 'Journey' project that I forget to post things I'd intended to!!
First off - a very happy birthday to notabluemaia - hope you have a great day:) And my apologies to elfellon111 whose birthday I missed - hope it was a good one:)
Have been overwhelmed by all the Elijah goodies lately - and I'm so grateful to those who make all his tv appearances available online to those of us who don't get them. I was very pleased to hear Elijah mention the International Fund for Animal Welfare on one of these programmes - I've supported this charity for years, they do such good work endeavouring to stop the terrible cruelty that animals are subjected to all around the world.
I loved what George Miller said about Elijah - I'm sure everyone's seen it but it's worth repeating:
Elijah… I have to say something complimentary to him. You get everything on take one. It’s amazing. You’re so precise because I know your voice better than you do. On cutting I had to go through every take. Somehow, you got to the truth of it in a moment, which I found really amazing. I know you’ve been acting for a long time but that skill… There are very few actors I know who can manage to do that.
*waves this in faces of certain critics*
Whilst reeling from the 'Hobbit' fiasco, I had a horrible thought. How is all this going to impact on PJ's promise of many goodies when the films are released on HD? The audition tapes, that blooper reel ... That letter from PJ sounded so final - as if he was closing the door on Middle Earth for ever. Would New Line still bring out this big bumper edition, would they be able to without PJ's co-operation? I'd been hoping there was bluffing taking place on both sides, but now that NL have named a director they've approached, it's worrying. But how could they hope for this to succeed with almost the whole existing fan base against them?? I'd never really given much thought to 'The Hobbit' - it would be nice to visit Middle Earth again, but there would be no Frodo. But when I heard about the proposed second film linking it to LOTR my interest increased 100%. Could it be possible that we'd get to see Frodo again? And for me there is only one Frodo. Would he be asked to do it? Would he agree? (Personally I think he'd jump at it - he recently said if he could spend the rest of his life making films in NZ he'd be very happy). But then the bombshell - I couldn't believe it - to have my hopes raised and dashed in such a short space of time!! My gut feeling is that there is still hope - but I'm worried this may just be wishful thinking:(
A reminder to fellow UK'ers just in case they haven't heard - Elijah is to appear on Jonathan Ross's show on 1 December!!
Back to 'Journey' - hope to have Ch. 4, 'Becoming Frodo', posted very soon:)
ETA: ourdramaqueen informs me that the approach to another director is only a rumour. Another shred of hope!!
And in my haste I forgot one of the most important things - to all who celebrate it A VERY HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!
