A Frodo moment for Froday:

I'll admit I had to resist an urge to label this pic 'LIPS OMG':D Although I love this scene for Elijah's perfect portrayal of Frodo's struggle with temptation, I also find something incredibly sensuous about it.

I have to say it again - Elijah Wood, it's impossible to imagine a more perfect Frodo!!

Happy Froday everyone - have a good weekend:)

Freakin gorgeous and yes, sensual. He draws you and you feel such sympathy and then pure pleasure in taking in what he gives in his face and the emotions that rip into your heart. sighs Hugs you close xoxoox v

He was born to play Frodo, and no mistake.

I always have to replay that scene whenever I'm watching the dvd!! Actually, there are a lot of scenes I have to replay. It takes me a loooong time to watch any of the LOTR films on dvd:D

I seem to recall reading in either a review or an article about the movies that Elijah Wood's mouth definitely qualified as an occasion of sin. Word. AND, he gets bonus points for having cultivated that lovely hint of a sneer in his upper lip ever since he was about 13 - he's a bad, bad boy..

To this day I can't figure how he didn't at least get a nomination out of that performance. . .

I will never get over the anger and disappointment I felt about that. For me, it even cast a shadow over the triumph of ROTK at the Oscars:(

Oh God.. what a picture!! That face, those tortured eyes, those lips!!! A perfect example of what i mentioned before.. his lips/mouth had so much more definition when he was younger ;) They are incredible, and so very very kissable!! An oscar winning performance that's for sure!

The pic just takes your breath away, doesn't it? I find it so hard to tear myself away from looking at those lips - they're hypnotic!! And it's impossible for me to believe from that pic (and many others) that he is anything other than poor tormented, burdened Frodo. As I mentioned to elanorgardner, I will never get over my anger and disappointment that he wasn't even nominated for an Oscar:(

I saw that too! And of course, Ian McKellan said that at first he thought Elijah was 'too beautiful' to be Frodo - but admitted that he completely changed his mind when he realised how perfect he was in the role:)

One of my favorite scenes. He's so sensual, I love the way he plays with the ring. That and the combination with that gorgeous face, lips...*wibble*

The whole of Elijah's Frodo is sensual to me in a way that Elijah never has been. It's the vulnerability I think that does it for me.

Yes, I know what you mean about his vulnerability. In a strange way, the more tormented Frodo became, the more sensual he seemed to me.

Thanks Jane - so far the weekend has been fairly good following a rather fraught week (had to do a lot of toing and froing to my parent's house). Hope yours is good too:)

I will never get over Elijah's portrayal of Frodo:)

That was a lovely thing to say to him and I'm so glad you did - I sometimes doubt he has any idea just how beautiful he is!

Hope you're enjoying your weekend:)

Oh my, what a heart-wrenchingly beautiful picture! Sorry I missed this on Froday. I love this scene too, Pauline. He makes those moments of torment and temptation very sensual, I agree. The scene in the Dead Marshes when Frodo is caressing the Ring is another example of this ~ absolutely riveting. And yes, those lips in this pic are definitely worthy of an 'OMG!'

As Sir Ian McKellen commented, Elijah's portrayal of Frodo was 'beautifully judged.' An Oscar nomination would have been richly-deserved, IMO, but if Elijah had been nominated for best actor and then had not won ~ amid the 'clean sweep' of awards for ROTK ~ we would have felt so much worse for him.

Thanks for sharing. I hope all is well with you.

Hugs ~ Blossom.

"The scene in the Dead Marshes when Frodo is caressing the Ring is another example of this ~ absolutely riveting."

Oh yes, Blossom - I agree. I definitely feel another viewing coming on!!

"but if Elijah had been nominated for best actor and then had not won ~ amid the 'clean sweep' of awards for ROTK ~ we would have felt so much worse for him."

Absolutely - that would have been really unbearable.

"Thanks for sharing. I hope all is well with you."

You're welcome! Things are a little better now that my mom is finally out of hospital. Hope you are ok:)
