"He knows that he must move on. But it is a wrenching experience to reach the end of a project which consumed his life for four years. He's quick to admit that when he and co-star Sean Astin, who plays his faithful friend Sam, were called back to New Zealand earlier this year to reshoot their final scene together, the two of them fell into each other's arms and burst into tears.
"It was very emotional. He came and gave me a hug and broke down on my shoulder. There were many tears. It was very difficult. I just couldn't comprehend that it had come to an end, that I wasn't going to be that character any more, and more importantly, that I wasn't going to be back in New Zealand with these people and in this context. It was very difficult for me to get my head around it."
This was from an article in The Vancouver Sun. There really are no words.
And thankyou bunniewabbit for this wonderful quote about Lij from Angeleno mag:
"The moment you meet Elijah Wood, its obvious why he was chosen for the role of Frodo: he is tiny but also unexpectedly muscular and possessed of an athelete's natural grace. And then, of course, there are the eyes---as wide and blue as the sky spread above his home state of Iowa.
Wood's eyes seem to see everything; and it's difficult, in fact, to look into them for fear both of sinking in and of revealing too much of oneself. But the sweet-natured 23-year-old's similarity to Frodo is more than physical. There is something about him that seems almost magical, a kind of electric hum which shimmers in the air around him."
I can certainly empathise with the "fear of revealing too much of oneself" sentiment expressed here. I felt exactly the same.
Lij didn't come to the London premiere. I suppose its because of preparation for SNL. But he wasn't at the Berlin prem either and that is very strange - because he was in Berlin. Why go - but not attend the premiere? A mystery indeed.
The preparation for ROTK has commenced. Last Sat. I saw the extended FOTR at the cinema. This Sat. its the ex. TTT. Then there will be just four days to go. Have just watched a clip at WOTR which I hadn't seen before, Frodo, Sam & Gollum - poor Frodo. This has given me a real taste of what is to come. I am excited and terrified all at once.
