I know this news is now all over the place but because it's so special I wanted to note it in my own LJ. Ever since the last LOTR film I've had a strong gut feeling that one day we'd see Elijah in his role as Frodo again. I always held back from actually saying this, knowing that I'd probably jinx it!! Sometimes I wondered if it was just wishful thinking but when, some time ago, it was rumoured that there would be a film bridging LOTR and 'The Hobbit' in which Frodo would be included, I was over the moon. When all that fell through I really couldn't believe it, and yet that feeling was still there. So, as you can imagine, with the news that Elijah has now been confirmed for a part in the film, I feel not only joyful but very relieved. I know that Frodo, not being part of the actual story, can only be featured in a small way but PJ's heart-warming statement below pinpoints the reasson I could never drum up much interest in 'The Hobbit' until now. Like PJ, I really couldn't envisage the filmmakers returning to Middle Earth without Elijah - it just didn't seem right:
"Elijah Wood (“The Lord of The Rings” trilogy, “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”) will be returning to play Frodo Baggins the young cousin of Bilbo Baggins and Andy Serkis (“The Lord of The Rings” trilogy, “King Kong”) will be returning to play the character Gollum.
Peter Jackson welcomed the two back.”I cannot imagine returning to Middle-earth without these two wonderful actors. We began this journey together ten years ago and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be working with Eiljah and Andy again.”
It's a long wait but I shall enjoy the anticipation:)
