I remember the first time I saw that movie. I completely loved it but the ElijahMadness didn't strike me that first time -- his performance was what struck me.
Still, I do remember my reaction to the scene after the mines of Moria, when Frodo turns to the camera with the tear rolling down. I thought my heart would burst at what was the saddest, most angelic face I had ever seen. I thought Elijah was lovely, but it took me a couple more viewings for the Woodlust to really kick in!
It was almost instantaneous for me - as soon as Frodo stood up under the tree when he hears Gandalf it was like being struck by a thunderbolt - by the time we got to 'Sam, I'm glad you're with me'I knew he'd captured my heart & soul and I've never looked back!! And yes - the scene you mention - there are no words.
Ohhh this brings back memories. I remember waiting in a line for the first showing. I left the theater floored. I also remember when I took my parents about a 2 weeks later. My mom was so pissed when she found out there were three parts and she wouldn't know the end of it till 2003. Oops...forgot to mention that. LOL. Thanks for the memories!
Oh, my "three years" was on January, 15...in many ways VERY significant date for me, because TTT was on the same date two years and ROTK on the same date was one year ago and this year you were with him in Pasadena... I cann´t imagine my life without you, my boys..and without you, my friends, especially you Pauli, too. Thank you
Oh thats nice - to have the same anniversary date for all three films!! Although FOTR was released on 19th Dec here, things kept happening to stop us being able to see it, which is why I didn't see it til 26 Jan. Little did I know what was waiting for me!!
