Re my previous post - I promised to expand on this, so - this is how I found out about the gifts. I was reading melyanna_65's wonderful report about her visit to LFCC & amongst the replies was a comment from the young lady who sat next to Elijah on the Saturday. This is what she said:
"I was the girl sat with elijah when you met him on the saturday. i can not even begin to describe how much reading your report has made me smile. im so glad that you had such a good experience.
i would also like to say that i personally placed all of elijahs gifts into a box at the end of the day. they are being packaged and forwarded to him. i was there when he spoke to the organiser about this and i thought that maybe you would like to know that your gifts didnt end up in an unwanted corner or the nearest bin."
In another comment she said:
"it was amazing to be sat there all day. as you can imagine i didnt get a chance to speak to him much with him being so busy but it was amazing to see people such as yourself.
one of the best things about working for showmasters is being a part of making peoples dreams come true and being there to witness it in person. it really is a lovely sight to behold.
elijah was one of the best guests i have worked with. he was polite all day and gave me a hug to say thank you at the end. he was happy with whatever and didnt make any demands. such a lovely guy and i am glad you got the chance to meet him."
This reminded me of when I spoke to the girl who sat by him at Collectormania - she described him as "an absolute angel".
Anyway, I asked this young lady if it would be ok to quote her on my LJ - this is an extract of her reply:
"elijah had so many gifts that i personally packed them into a box. elijah asked Showmasters what would happen to them all and SM said that they would get the address he wanted them to be sent to and ship them out to him. elijah seemed pretty pleased with this so from that i guess he wanted to keep his gifts.
now what happened after that i do not know. i cant say if the same thing happened at other events or if it will ever happen again. of course none of us can know what happens to the gifts once they get shipped... but im sure it would be easier for elijah to go over them in detail in his own time.
i know that it means a lot to some people to know that their gift dont just get thrown away by the organisers at the end of an event. and in this case i can safely say they were looked after.
hope that makes some of you smile."
It certainly makes me smile - muchly!! :D
Many thanks to those who paid a visit to Allie & Marie:)
