QUESTION Who is the first person in the history of the universe to cross the biggest waterfall in the world, the Victoria Falls in Africa, suspended by a rope?

ANSWER Elijah Wood, that's who!!!

I hadn't given much thought to how I'd feel watching Adrenaline Junkie - I was just excited to be seeing Elijah again. During the programme my stomach was doing constant somersaults, I kept thanking my lucky stars that this wasn't a live programme and by the time it was over I just felt so very, very proud of him. He embraced all those dangerous adventures with such enthusiasm and what I can only describe as sheer joy. I don't think that smile left his face for the entire programme!! Surfacing from the depths of the Zambesi River after being 'held under' for quite some time, he described as being 'a little concerned' but also 'exhilerating'. This was during the four days they spent white water rafting some extremely dangerous rapids. I'm sure he could end up in The Guiness Book of Records for the Victoria Falls rope crossing. He was closely followed by Jack Osbourne - a game of scissors, paper, stone had decided who would go first. And what did Elijah do when he reached the middle of the rope - a tiny figure suspended over those mighty falls? Reached for his beloved camera and started clicking away, that's what!!!

I'm so proud of him:)

I haven't seen this yet but from the ad I had to laugh at the ONE camera appearing. Wonder if Jack did leave him dangling there all night! I also think Elijah could make the Guinness Book of Records - what a thought!

Apparently there has to be someone from GB of Records present to witness the event - let's hope there was!! No, he wasn't left dangling all night - though I'm sure if he was he'd still have been smiling that beautiful smile the next morning, bless him:) I'm sure you'll get to see this soon, one way or another:)

I was very very impressed by him. My abiding memory of the programme is, as you say, his absolute joy in the experience. I hope some studio executive sees this and offers him the lead in an action adventure blockbuster! He'd do all his own stunts, of course! :D

Oooh yes - that'd be good. Or his own tv series perhaps:)

Awwwwwwwww. I was so proud of him too. I love his lust for life and unbreakable spirit. He's just so amazed and appreciative of everything!

I was biting my nails at points too, when the boat flipped and the emergency crew were called in & he didn't resurface and everyone else did. :s

Crazy boy. :)

I loved him taking photos too! It did look incredibly beautiful. I wish he'd put some of his photos up somewhere, I'm sure he has thousands from over the years.

That would have had me on edge too. Now he has something else to share with Viggo, who was trapped underwater during a take of Aragorn floating downstream IN LOTR.

Apparently it has been going for some time but the show last night, which Elijah was in, was the first of a new series. Unfortunately, it seems that at the moment it's only showing in the UK but some folk are working on trying to get it uploaded online. I posted a link at Elijah Finds where it might be possible to upload the programme - I'm not sure if you're a member of EF so I'll go back to copy the link and add a ps to this in a moment:)

I don't know if you saw this link I posted on Elijah Finds - unfortunately I only know of one person who's had success with the links posted there but it's probably worth trying:

Wasn't Elijah great? He was full of enthusiasm and appreciation of
the whole experience ~ and very courageous too! I love how he
volunteered to go first for the canyon swing, and the 'tandem' jump was
hilarious! The One giggle returns! The white water rafting was scary,
but he just took it all in his stride. Like you, I was thrilled to hear the narrator explain that the Victoria Falls gorge had never been crossed by rope before. My first thought was that Elijah's name would be in the
history books as the first to do it. Trust Elijah to have his camera at the ready!

"Trust Elijah to have his camera at the ready!"

Hehe - I think that camera must go absolutely everywhere with him!!

I just loved seeing him enjoy this so much - and I'm so full of admiration for him, that he could just put aside his fears and relish this whole experiencce. I couldn't stop rewatching it today - and I should have been doing other things:)

It's something I've always loved about him -the way he embraces every new experience with such enthusiasm, no matter how nervous he is. I just kept replaying it over and over today - there were so many other things I should have been doing but I couldn't help myself:)

Yesterday, I was able to download the files from that link you posted, to extract / unpack them, and to eventually watch 'Adrenaline Junkies'.

Oh my God - Elijah was on a constant high, and I with him. That video should be prescribed to watch when you are feeling low ! So endearing. And everytime he truly enjoys something, no matter how mature - - - and buff ! - - - he looks these days, he looks like a 12-year-old again. To see this transformation back and forth is amazing.

Him taking the camera to these events - awww, it's just a thing he would do.

Watching him getting up, first thing in the morning (and comparing it to Jack Osbourne, lol) - kind of very intimate.

Hearing him whisper *melt*

Watching him shirtless under that life belt / swimming vest - boy, his muscles are so defined, I hadn't expected this.

There's so much to love about these 45 minutes, and so much to love about Elijah there, his bravery, his friendship, his open eye for new experiences, his sheer lust for life and joy - WOW !

Love,

- Karin.

I'm so glad you were able to download it - and thankfully I see that many others are now having success with the linkss - at first it seemed that only Pop was getting anywhere!!

"That video should be prescribed to watch when you are feeling low !"

Definitely!! Every time I watch it I can't stop smiling:)

"Watching him getting up, first thing in the morning (and comparing it to Jack Osbourne, lol) - kind of very intimate."

I loved that too - he obviously had no problem with early morning filming, as Jack did, and I loved the way he was so careful to whisper really quietly so as not to disturb anyone:)

"boy, his muscles are so defined, I hadn't expected this."

Me neither - I was really surprised - those are some serious muscles there!!

"There's so much to love about these 45 minutes, and so much to love about Elijah there, his bravery, his friendship, his open eye for new experiences, his sheer lust for life and joy - WOW !"

I totally agree - this whole thing was a real treat for us:)
