Subject:Belated Birthday Greeting
Time:04:03 pm
Last night I realised with a shock that it was my dear friend Blossom's birthday and it was too late to do anything other than rush in with a quick apology!! For me, this was the culmination of a particularly hectic and difficult month - but I won't go into that, this is about Blossom, not me! She isn't an LJ member but many of you will know her through another group (now sadly gone) or her wonderful website dedicated to our beautiful Frodo. For any Frodo fans who haven't yet done so, I urge you to visit asap - here is the link:

Blossom, I can't tell you how sorry I am for the lateness of this greeting but I can assure you it is no less heartfelt:

(Please scroll down)

"What is wrong, Sam?"

"Mr Frodo - I just heard that Not Alone missed Blossom's birthday!!"

"Are you absolutely sure about this, Sam?"

"I'm sorry, Mr Frodo, but it's true!"

"Yessss, it'ssss true - nassssty Not Alone! Gollum!"

"Don't take on so, Mr Frodo"

"You're right, Sam - we must find it in our hearts to forgive her"
"Yes Mr. Frodo - and she did post a nice card the next day - with a very lovely picture of your good self on it"

"She did? Oh, well that's alright then!"

With many apologies again for the lateness Blossom - hope it was a lovely day:

Hehehe!!! That made me laugh out loud, Pauline! Brilliant! Don't worry about the birthday greeting being a little late. I would forgive anything for a picture of Frodo ~ to quote our beloved hobbit himself, 'That's alright then!' Thank you so much!

I'm sorry to hear you have had a difficult time lately, for whatever reason. I hope all is well now.

(Blossom goes in search of tissues to wipe away tears of laughter...)

Many thanks again.
Hugs ~ Blossom.

You're very welcome, Blossom - I'm so glad you enjoyed it:)

I really don't know where this month has gone - it just seems to have gone by in a flash!! The problem is that my mother is in hospital again after yet another fall - she's getting better but has been in for almost a month and during that time my father has been living with us. Of course, we've had to go to the hospital - Good Hope - every day and that takes such a huge chunk out of the day. I'm trying to arrange for them to have help in the home when she comes out which hopefully should not be too long now:) However, I don't use this as a reason for being late with your birthday - for some strange reason I didn't put any birthdays on my calendar this year as I usually do - which was extremely silly, I know. With LJ members' birthdays you can have email notifications - otherwise I'd have missed many more, I'm sure!!

Hope it was a good one:)

You sound like you have more than enough to be going on with, Paulie. I hope things work out for your parents and for you soon. They must appreciate your help and love and steadfastness very much.

Many thanks, Mechtild. My parents are always very appreciative of what we do for them but at times like this it can be difficult being an only child. My mother should be home quite soon and I'm hoping we can arrange for them to have plenty of help in the home when she comes out and after so that they can stay in their own home for as long as possible which is what they want:)

Best wishes to you all, Pauline. My mom doesn't want to leave her home, either. She wants to die there, if possible (rather than in a nursing home, she means). I'm betting your parents feel similarly. :)

I'm so sorry to hear your mother is in hospital, Pauline. I understand only too well how much time it takes out of your day going backwards and forwards for visiting. My father-in-law has had a couple of stays in hospital recently ~ about three weeks in Q.E undergoing surgery, and now he is in the Manor, so we are spending a lot of time in hospital wards at the moment too. It must be worrying for you all, but it's nice to know you're there to look after your dad. I hope your mother gets well and is able to go home very soon.

It seems to me you have every excuse to be late with birthday greetings right now. You must be exhausted. Be sure to take care of yourself too!

I didn't do anything remotely exciting yesterday ~ took mum-in-law to the hospital as usual, dinner, and a glass of wine in the evening! I really know how to live it up!

Thanks again for your wonderful birthday post ~ I'm still smiling!

Hugs ~ Blossom.

Many thanks Blossom - my mother is being sent home for an hour tomorrow so that she can be assessed by the social worker and occcupational therapist - we shall be there too. This is in preparation for her coming home so it shouldn't be too long now. I'm sorry to hear you've been having a similar experience with your father-in-law - I do hope he will soon be recovered and home:)
